Purpose of Message:
FVL CFT is soliciting organizations to nominate technologies for participation in EDGE 24 and the Position, Navigation, and Timing Assessment Exercise (PNTAX), both in September 2024.
Background
Future Vertical Lift Cross Functional Team (FVL CFT) conducts persistent experimentation (PE) efforts to narrow existing capability gaps to enable rapid development and transition of signature modernization efforts. EDGE 24 will continue the success of past events to support FVL CFT’s long term plan to modernize the Army in support of the National Defense Strategy, which states future battles will be won with speed, increased autonomy, and dispersed units across degraded environments.
In FY2024 & FY2025, FVL CFT conducts PE across multiple venues to continue learning and refine desired learning demands to achieve results with defined requirements for signature efforts. The focus of this campaign of learning is FVL Ecosystem Launched Effects (LE) Optimization (connectivity, collaborative behaviors/autonomation, and assured operations). The campaign starts at the end of Project Convergence Capstone 4 (April 1, 2024) and ends with Project Convergence Capstone 5 (March 31, 2025).
PM UAS is responsible for the acquisition of the Launched Effects capability for the Army. This effort is in coordination with PM UAS. The experimentation described here will refine the requirements and inform technology insertion into that program through understanding technology readiness. As PM UAS will be presenting at its LE Industry Day on 7 Feb 2024, the Army plans to acquire LE in an iterative manner. The LE Optimization elements represent the key areas that we as an Army community see as initial opportunities consistent with the LE program - independent of airframe selections.
