INDUSTRY DAY NOTIFICATION

9:00AM - April 19, 2023 - Mobile, AL

Mobile Harbor, Alabama

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, will be conducting an industry day to discuss the remaining phases proposed for the Mobile Harbor Deepening and Widening. The Mobile Harbor Deepening and Widening project includes the following navigation improvements: deepen the existing Bar, Bay, and a portion of the River Channels by 5 ft; incorporate bend easings in the Bar Channel; widen the Bay Channel to 500 ft from the mouth of Mobile Bay northward for 3 nautical miles; expand the Choctaw Pass Turning Basin 250 ft to the south; and widen the Upper Mobile River Channel south of the Choctaw Pass Turning Basin. Placement areas for the new work material dredged for the proposed navigation improvements are as follows: Relic Shell Mined Area, Sand Island Beneficial Use Area (SIBUA), and the Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS) and two beneficial use projects. A summary of the new work can be found in the Mobile Harbor GRR at the following link (See paragraph 4.2.1. for New Work Material Placement Options), and additional information for the beneficial use projects will be posted prior to the industry day. http://www.sam.usace.army.mil/Missions/Program-and-Project-Management/Civil-Projects/Mobile-Harbor-GRR/Mobile-Harbor-GRR-Downloads/

The industry day event will be held from 9:00 to 12:00 CST on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 109 Saint Joseph Street, Mobile, AL 36602 in 1st Floor Conference Room. The meeting will consist of a general session with a presentation on the project overview, status, and schedule followed by an open discussion/feedback period. Additionally, individual 30 minute break out sessions will be held, at the request of the contractor, after the general session is over. Contractor comments and suggestions are strongly encouraged.

It is anticipated the remaining work will be advertised under multiple Invitation for Bid (IFB) solicitations, which will result in corresponding awards of “C” type contracts. Subsequent contract advertisement is anticipated as early as Fall 2023. Beneficial use material placement, utility tolerance zones, phasing strategies, and periods of performance will be topics of discussion. NOTE: The Mobile Harbor Deepening and Widening remaining work is in addition to work anticipated to be completed under the current Solicitation No. W9127823B00002 “IDIQ Contract for Rental of 30 Inch Cutterhead Pipeline Dredge for Dredging Mobile District Navigation Projects in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.”

Please e-mail Mrs. Mary Sullivan at Mary.E.Sullivan@usace.army.mil by 1700 CDT on April 14, 2023 if you plan to attend this event. Provide your name, contact information, the company you represent, the number of people in your party who will attend, and whether or not you want to participate in a 30-minute individual break out session.
